qlpreview Description

Command line tool that extracts a file's icon or QuickLook preview image qlpreview is a free and open source command line based tool that can get the regular file icon or the preview image as seen in QuickLook. qlpreview will automatically write the image (in either jpg, png, or tif format) to your Mac's disk. What's New in This Release: · upgraded to work on 10.6 Snow Leopard · added a setting called -JPEGimageQuality which controls the amount of compression of the output jpg file. It only applies to jpg files, not png or tif. The values must be between 0 and 100 inclusive. 0 means maximum compression and 100 means full quality (eg. no compression). If this setting isn't input then it defaults to a setting of 100. · added a setting called -generatePreviewOnly. When "yes" then the output is only generated from the quicklook preview i.e. the file icon is never used. If no preview can be found then no image is output. · qlpreview will use the color sync profile of the input file (if the input image has one embedded in it) in the output file · changed width variable name to maxWidth to make it more clear that image proportions are retained, so the width setting doesn't ensure that the input value is the output value · changed height variable name to maxHeight to make it more clear that image proportions are retained, so the height setting doesn't ensure that the input value is the output value
