Open source MySQL backup for lazy sysadmins mysqlblasy is a free and open source Perl script for automatic and silent MySQL backups.mysqlblasy is cross-platform and it has been tested on the following platforms:· Mac OS X 10.2 or later· Linux 2.2 or later (Debian/Ubuntu)· Windows 2003 Here are some key features of "mysqlblasy": · backup rotation to avoid disc overflow · dump some or all databases from a database instance · compress dumps (using gzip,bzip2,zip,tar) · optimize tables · syslog facility (only on unix-like system, not win32) · unix style output (loglevels, errors to stderr) · security: no shell on external commands! · NO root privileges required · NO external dependencies except Perl and MySQL · designed for automation (for example cron) Requirements: · Perl 5.6.1 or later · MySQL 3 or later What's New in This Release: · don't require Archive::Zip · added option 'optimize_tables = 1' which will execute the "OPTIMIZE TABLE" statement on every dumped table AFTER dumping. Default is off.
