iMage Convert is a practical and user-oriented application that enables you to quickly and effortlessly convert between DMG and IMG disk image files with just a few mouse clicks. Apple Disk Images use the DMG filename extension and can be opened by mounting them as a volume within your Mac’s Finder. DMG files provide file compression and secure password protection and, as a result, can be used to protect and distribute files safely and easily. IMG is a straightforward filename extension capable to store raw disk images, hard drives or optical discs and, just like in the case of DMG disk image files, IMG files can contain data and applications within a secure and easy to distribute file. Thanks to iMage Convert, you can now convert between IMG and DMG disk images without any data or quality loss. By accessing iMage Convert’s status bar menu, you can quickly choose the type of conversion you need to perform, from IMG to DMG or from DMG to IMG. In both cases you have to provide a path for the original file and an output path for the generated file. Once you located the source file and set the destination folder you can start the process by simply clicking on the “Convert” button. It would have been useful if iMage Convert allowed its users to choose which files they wish to include or exclude from the output disk image. In future updates we also hope to view some security features and the option to add extra files to the generated disk image. All things considered, iMage Convert is a simple, user-friendly and unobtrusive utility that you can use to convert between IMG and DMG disk images.
