YP Atwood Description

YP Atwood simulates a pulley driven by one or two suspended masses YP Atwood simulates a pulley (simple or double) driven by one or two suspended masses.YP Atwood studies the linear motion with constant acceleration and the kinematics and the dynamics of rotational motion with constant angular acceleration.During the animation, up to 5 vectors (position, velocity, acceleration, tension and weight) and up to 7 graphs (position, velocity, acceleration, angular position, angular velocity, angular acceleration and energies vs time) can be displayed.Main features of YP Atwood:When you launch YP Atwood, a system composed of a pulley and two suspended masses is shown in the main window.Use the "Start Animation" item in the "Animation Menu" to start the animation. With the "Atwood" menu, you can remove one of the suspended masses, or replace the double pulley by a single pulley. Use the "Vectors" menu to show vectors, and the "Graphs" menu to display graphs.Use the dialog window titled "Initial Condition" to change the mass and the radius of each disk of the pulley, or to change the suspended masses. You must click on the "Apply" button when you change one of these values. You may enter numerical values in decimal or scientific notation (for instance: 2.4e-3 or 0.0024). The exact separators to use (point or comma) depend on the settings in the "Numbers" control panel of your computer. The "Results" item in the "Atwood" menu displays a window showing the rotational inertia of the pulley, the angular acceleration of the pulley (considered as two disks glued together), the acceleration of each suspended mass and the tension in each string.Requirements of YP Atwood:250 Kb on your hard disk1 Mb of RAMLimitations of YP Atwood:Some features are not available.Runs on Mac OS Classic only.
