XPontus XML Editor Description

XPontus is a free java based XML editor designed towards text editing XPontus is a free java based XML editor designed towards text editing. XPontus XML Editor aims to provide a free alternative to commercial XML Editors. As XPontus is written in Java it is available for all Java enabled operating systems. The program has been reported to run correctly on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD. There are many installers for platform convenience. Here are some key features of "XPontus XML Editor":· The core IDE Some basic text editing features are still missing.· As I moved from local filesystem usage to commons-vfs for filesystem abstractions, you cannot save a document yet.· Printing bugs present in 1.0.0-rc3 will be fixed. Some people reported that they can't print multiple pages. In Ubuntu to be able to print you have to downgrade your version of cups to 1.2.8(cups or java bug??). · Code completionThe basic functionality is ready. It is not fast and efficient, might be slow. The completion is not intelligent yet. You get a full list of elements/attributes in the suggestion list. Code completion wasn't designed as a plugin so I have to refractor the old code I have. · XPontus plugin's browser It allows you to install , remove, update or query available plugins · XPontus icons pluginIt allows you to use a different icon theme · XPontus themes pluginIt allows you to use different look and feels for the editor : Windows look and feel, etc. · XPontus virtual file system plugin It allows the editor to open a local or remote files. It will support the following protocols : Local, Samba, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP · Schema converter/generator plugin The schema converter plugin allows you to generate/convert files into differents formats. Supported formats are : DTD, XML Schema, Relax NG, XML. · Documentation generator pluginIt supports generating documentation from DTDS or XML Schemas. It only supports single files. The XSL documentation generator plugin is not added yet. It depends on my other project Jxsltdoc. · Lexer pluginThe lexer plugin is responsible for syntax coloring. For now there is XML and HTML files are supported. · Validation pluginIt allows you to validate files. 3 sub-plugins are available for now : Simple xml validation, Batch XML validation, External Schema validation · Users transformations plugin It allows you to manage transformations profiles and execute them. The following engines are available : Xalan 2.7.0, Saxon 6.5.4, Saxon 8, XQuery, STX, Apache FO · Expression evaluator plugin The expression evaluator plugin allows you evaluate 3 kind of expressions : XPath 1.0, XPath 2.0 and XQueryRequirements:· Java 1.5. What's New in This Release: · A menu has been added for a "Recent files list". · Dom4j is now used to indent XML files which will correct the bugs while trying to pretty print an XML document. · XPontus now runs in a single instance. · Drag and drop is corrected and seems to work pretty well now on Windows, Linux/Unix. · The editor can be used with the "Open With XPontus XML Editor" in Windows and Unix/Linux. If you installed XPontus using the jar installer or the Unix installer you will need to update the executable file to be able to use that option. Check the installation page on the website for that : · The Java Web start installer has been corrected. It won't download all the files again and again. I needed to be able to track the Java Web Start downloads so I put the jnlp jars files on a sourceforge mirror, but I realized that the file is modified everyday!
