WebIssues Description

An open source, multi-platform system for issue tracking and team collaboration WebIssues can be used to store, share and track issues with various comments, attributes, and file attachments. The WebIssues system is easy to install and use but has many capabilities and is highly customizable. The server can be installed on any host with PHP and MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firebird or SQL Server. Here are some key features of "WebIssues": Working with issues: · Desktop-based user interface. The WebIssues Client is a light-weight application which can run on both Windows and Linux desktops, allowing to access and administer the system. It is more comfortable and faster than traditional web-based applications. It also has a portable version which can be carried on a portable device and used on any computer. · Filtering and searching issues. Issues can be filtered and searched using multiple freely configurable criteria. Frequenty used filters can be saved and quickly loaded when needed. Also the columns displayed in each list of issues can be customized. · Tracking new and modified issues. The application can periodically check for new and modified issues in selected folders. The tracking summary view allows to quickly find issues matching various filter criteria which require attention, for example active bugs assigned to the user. Email notifications can be sent when selected issues are modified or new issues are added to selected folders. · Creating reports and exporting data. Reports containing multiple issues or details of a single issue can be printed directly from the application or exported as HTML and PDF documents. A list of issues can also be exported to a file in CSV format accepted by most spreadsheet and database applications. Installation and administration: · Easy installation and setup. The WebIssues Server can be installed on any web host with PHP support and access to a MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firebird or SQL Server database. A simple web-based setup tool allows to quickly create the database tables and prepare the system for the first use. · Flexible and customizable issue types. Various types of issues may have different attributes for storing text values, numbers, dates, user names or choices of predefined values. All changes of attribute values are remembered and displayed in the issue history. · Simple data organization. Issues are organized in a simple two-level hierarchy consisting of projects and folders. Projects allow to configure access to particular parts of the system to individual users. Folders allow to group together issues of the same type. · Security and rights management. The client can communicate with the server using a secure, encrypted connection using the SSL protocol. A simple rights management system consisting of server administrator, project administrator and regular user roles allows to work in a multi-user environment.
