UCASTER Description

A Google Chrome extension that provides you contextual access to the STEM educational resources From an end-user perspective, UCASTER will install a button that will be always visible on the top right corner of your web browser. When this button is clicked a “mini-portal” will pop up. The content of the mini-portal will be related to the user?s profile and whatever web page is being viewed. It will include:STEM terms related to the page and appropriate for the user?s educational level. Rolling over a term will display its definition and clicking on a term will search a preconfigured pathway or collection for relevant resources at the correct educational level.Interactive “apps” that can be used to explore STEM topics related to the web page. Apps include learning tools, games, and simulations. They can use information thatUCASTER tells them about the page and the user to adapt to the current context.A list of classmates or “friends” who have recently seen the same page or similar topics. The purpose of this is to facilitate collaboration. The UCASTER technology will be able to recognize tweets and Facebook postings relevant to particular page or topic. Requirements: · Google Chrome
