An useful application that allows you to create photorealistic landscape images Terragen is a scenery generator, created with the goal of generating photorealistic landscape images and animations. Although Terragen is a continually evolving work-in-progress, it is already capable of near-photorealistic results and has been used for a wide range of commercial projects, from film and television to games and multimedia to print work.Terragen Mac uses a native user interface, as opposed to the custom user interfaces used by some similar applications. This means that the basic operation is the same as other apps you are used to and that familiarity helps you get started with Terragen more quickly.Terragen takes advantage of a number of capabilities unique to the Mac and uses Quartz for high quality graphics on OS X. Requirements: · QuickTime 5 or later · 32 MB of RAM or more What's New in This Release: Improved, faster rendering: · Terragen v0.9 uses a new rendering method which is much faster than in previous versions. It also has higher quality antialiasing options and improved shadow rendering. A new orthographic mode can be used to more easily render top down views for exporting surfaces to other applications, amongst other things. Terragen can now also render using non-square pixels. New settings, greater control: · Terragen v0.9 allows greater control over a number of items, most particularly the water. There are improved landscape editing tools and a resizeable terrain view, as well a number of smaller improvements in other areas. Command line tool and Xgrid distributed animation rendering: · Terragen v0.9 includes a tool which lets you use it from the command line on OS X. This makes a variety of new things possible, including using Terragen on render farms. Taking advantage of this, an Xgrid Kit is included which makes it easy to use Apple's Xgrid clustering technology for distributed rendering of animations. Interface additions to improve your workflow: · Terragen v0.9 adds several features to help improve your workflow. You can create and restore custom window layouts, called workspaces. You can define custom image sizes for the image sizes you most commonly use. Improved user interface for OS X 10.3 ( Panther ) and non-English users: · The user interface has been revised for OS X 10.3 users. A good deal of work has been done to improve the interface for non-English users, removing problems such as clipped text items. Japanese users should notice a particular improvement. Improved native scripting support: · Many aspects of Terragen's native scripting support have been improved. The Script Setup window has been improved and the script Preview using the 3D Preview is now much faster. There is also a new Quick Scripter which makes it easy to create interesting native scripts. Improved AppleScript support: · AppleScript support has been extended in Terragen v0.9, with new commands and settings. You can also run AppleScripts from the Scripting menu, making it possible to extend Terragen's interface in new and interesting ways using AppleScript. Online Help: · Terragen v0.9 now as online Help, available from the Help menu in Terragen. At present it mainly discusses items unique to the Mac version which are not covered by the main user guide available from the Planetside website, but it will be expanded in the future.
