Stochaton Description

A free 8 oscillator hybrid digital synthesizer with flexible modulation capabilities for your Mac Stochaton is a free Hybrid Digital Synthesizer plug-in that will allow a ?exible con?guration and is capable of several types of synthesis. Stochaton contains 8 Oscillators. Each oscillator offers several controls for con?guration and sculpting, splitting and layering patches, al- lowing you to create a remarkable array of sounds from within one instrument. The way to enable an Oscillator for use as an Oscillator or modulator is to assign it a waveform from the Oscillator page of the corresponding Oscillator. If the waveform is disabled, other components of that oscillator will not be processed. A ‘Silence’ option is provided in the list of waveforms. You can use this if you want to minimize CPU usage and use an envelope as a modulator for another Os- cillator and require no other components. Modulators will typically be assigned waveforms and some point in their signal path will be used, you then mute the output of the modulator or set it’s Level to zero from the Mix page. Oscillators can self modulate and Stochaton’s routing capabilities are very ?exible. If you are not careful, you can create modulation structures which will feedback into themselves and into Oscillators in the modulation network. This can produce desirable sounds. If extreme feedback is encountered, it can accumulate and get loud very quickly.
