A new interactive design tool, which allows the designer to easily and intuitively observe the effect of adding matching components to an electronic circuit The Smith Chart for the Macintosh program is basically a graphical microwave design tool which automates the process of matching a load impedance to a source impedance. The Smith Chart for the Macintosh app eliminates much of the repetitive calculation of a paper Smith chart, while preserving the designer's intuitive sense as to which components are suitable for a given matching situation. Unlike many of the design tools which simply present computer optimized solutions, this program allows the engineer to graphically view alternative situations, with the results displayed as each matching element is added.
