ShellyLib Description

Allows you to create seashells and snails. ShellyLib is a small library to create shapes and textures of seashells and snails. The most prominent applications using ShellyLib are the seashell custom object for The Mops/Ayam and the Shell Laboratory. The Shell Laboratory is real fun to play with. Just drag some sliders and see your changes immediately take effect in a realtime calculated and OpenGL rendered representation of the shell! Here are some key features of "ShellyLib": · More than 40 parameters are available to model the shell shape. If you dislike the idea of fiddling with 40+ parameters, simply load and adapt one of the many provided example parameter files, containing many basic and special shell shapes. · If you use the built in texture generator you can create a texture, starting from 20 initially available patterns that have over 50 parameters to adapt the texture to your needs. · Finished with the texture, you can render the shell shape with the texture applied using GLU-NURBS and antialiasing for ultimate image quality. · Finally, the shell shape may be exported to one of the following 3D file formats for inclusion in your own underwater/beach/whatever scenes: Real3D-RPL-macro, RIB (RenderMan Interface Bytestream), DXF, 3DMF (3D Metafile), Truespace (COB), POVRay (Bezier-Patches), T3D (Imagine), SCED, RAW, Web3D X3D, Wavefront OBJ. Limitations: · Saving is disabled. What's New in This Release: · Adds support for Wavefront OBJ and Web3D X3D as 3D output formats and TIFF as image format. · The texture editor has now a macro recorder and recorded macros can be saved with ShellyLib data files. · Some usability fixes in the GUI and generation curve editor and a port to MacOSX/X11 complement this release.
