Ruby Modem Search Description

Ruby text-based router search designed to query Cisco 72xx and 10k Routers for Cable modem and CPE information Ruby Modem Search is designed to work both on UNIX and NT enviroments. Requirement is the Ruby language interpreter. The original goal of the Ruby Modem Search is to provide a cross-platform (Mac, UNIX, Linux, Windows, etc) tool to query cable modem diagnostics with accuracy and speed. This is dependent of course on the Cisco priveledged commands: show cable modem, show cable flap-li st, and show cable remote-query. Normal searches of 7 routers results in under 25 seconds. The trade-off on speed is that it rely's on the Cisco Router's SNMP pull from the modem. Depending on the amount of time delay during these polls, accuracy may vary. The tool will also preform automatically at the end of the search, two types of pings on both modem and cpe's. This router search was tested in a 2 cpe only enviroment, so if you only allow 1 or 2 cpe's for each modem in your system, then it should be ok. Otherwise, the code would need to be modified to work correctly.
