Recents is a free and easy-to-use application for the Mac OS X platform which enables you to monitor your Git activity from the system bar and to quickly open projects in a custom editor, the Finder or the command line. The app is designed to automatically find your recent programming activity. Working with Recents is a straightforward task - you first need to specify the folder containing your development projects, be them from Mixture, Grunt, Node or another. Afterwards, your projects will be displayed in the app’s menu bar panel as a compact list that also informs you about the recent project changes. More specifically, Recents displays the number of added, modified and deleted files below each project’s name. Additionally, clicking on a project name will open a small pane for sending the project in your favorite editor, locating it in the Finder or opening it in a new Terminal window. Furthermore, Recents supports other services besides Node, Grunt and Mixture. You can add more in the JSON settings file, which can be accessed via the “Settings” option. What’s more, another option is to choose the root folder of your projects. This helps Recents to automatically discover the projects in that folder. In a nutshell, the Recents app provides a fast and efficient way to track the recent changes in your development projects from the menu bar. On top of this, Recents provides shortcuts for interacting with the tracked projects and can automatically detect them in a specified folder.
