RSC Indicator Description

Explain the choice of an appropriate indicator for a titration, given the equivalence point of the titration and pKa values for possible indicators RSC Indicator is a an applet built to explain the titration of acids with bases is a very common experimental procedure that makes use of the reactions between acids and bases. In the titration experiment a measured volume of the solution whose concentration is to be determined, the analyte, is usually placed in a small flask with a burette containing a solution of known concentration, the titrant above it.The burette is a piece of laboarory glassware that is a long tube with a tap at one end so that measured volumes of titrant can carefully be added to the analyte flask (see diagram below). To perform the experiment the titrant is added slowly and stepwise, with stirring, to the analyte to which a small quantity of indicator has been added, until the equivalence point (also called the stoichiometric point) is reached. NOTE: Run the applet.htm file in order to run the program. Requirements: · Java
