Polyspool Description

Multiplatform print spooler Polyspool combines the Common Unix Printing System, Ghostscript, Samba, and a Live Linux CD to create an easy to use Open Source print spooler capable of supporting Macintosh OS X, Windows, and Linux clients. When complete, Polyspool will provide a simple to use web interface and require no knowledge of Linux commands to successfully deploy. Because Polyspool uses the standard PostScript driver bundled with the Windows operating systems and Ghostscript to render the print job, only one driver needs to be installed for any supported printer.NOTE: The Polyspool Live CD is based on the SLAX and combines many Open Source projects and so different components may have different licenses. Here are some key features of "Polyspool": · Spool Print Jobs from Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista clients. · Automatically install the PostScript driver via Point and Print · Basic GUI interface available from the shell prompt. Limitations: · Only HP Printers are supported with this release. What's New in This Release: · Moved from Slax based Linux distro to Debian Live (Lenny). · A number of features haven't made it yet, including support for maintaining settings between boots. · IP addresses and other settings are set using the standard Debian tools.
