PROSE Description

Free and open source programming language for your Mac PROSE is a programming environment designed to simplify the development of large and small-scale networked applications. PROSE is designed from the ground-up to address these challenges with a range of innovative features that are unique to the language. PROSE consists of:· A high-level modular scripting language, which compiles into bytecode· An assembly language for low-level bytecode development· An execution engine, which interprets the bytecode What's New in This Release: · prose: is now interpreting bytecode, and can handle stack, error, basic function, local, register, walker and debug instructions; limitations at this time include no variables yet, no support for function arguments or returning data from functions, and the nexus cannot yet handle virtual nodes and attributes · prism: assembles/disassembles single files as with version 0.0.3, new instructions supported by the PROSE engine have been added, does not yet do much grammar checking, which will be introduced in another version once the syntax has bedded down - some of the assembler syntax has changed, for example comments now begin with the % symbol, only 16 registers now, and data segments have been introduced (populated with the EQUate macros) · libIvor: basic functionality remains the same since the last version, although the APIs are quite modified (and man pages out of date) - in particular the concept of caller IDs have been rolled out which affects the number of arguments each API takes
