Ohm Connect Description

Comprehensive remapping of the Livid Ohm controller’s MIDI output Given the diversity and flexibility of computer software, Ohm Connect allows any control on the Ohm to be converted to a CC, Note, or Program Change to any channel or MIDI bus. In addition, controls can be mapped to OpenSoundControl format (OSC), send messages to Max/MSP “receive” objects, and change the usage of the Ohm’s controls, creating toggles and “shift-key” functions. Setups can be stored in any of the thirty-two presets and saved to a file. When used for MIDI remapping, OhmConnect relies on your operating system’s internal MIDI routing software to send MIDI messages between applications. For Macintosh users, this can be done with the IAC bus or Network MIDI, as set up in Audio MIDI Setup utility. For Windows XP, third party “loopback” routers such as MIDI Yoke and Maple MIDI can be used. For example, if you use a software package that does not differentiate between CC and note messages, then the Ohm’s A1 slider, outputting CC# 0, and grid button #1, outputting Note# 0, will be seen as the same controller by the software. This problem can be easily solved by remapping the note to a value of 57 and sending it on the IAC bus or MIDI Yoke bus from OhmConnect to the other software. OhmConnect also has a testing utility built in, accessed from the Test menu. This is simply an easy way to confirm that each knob and slider is outputting th e full range of 0-127 and the but tons are outputting the appropriate note. If you suspect something is wrong with your Ohm hard ware, it can be useful to open the Testing Window and press each button one-by-one, and move each knob and slider through the full range. It will be easy to see if something fails.
