Network Drive Launcher Description

Accelerates the processes of connecting to network drives up to four times faster. The Network Drive Launcher Utility accelerates the processes of connecting to network drives up to four times faster, by automating AppleScript technology and leveraging features already built into the Macintosh Finder.NDL saves you time when connecting to local area network drives. When using the Network Browser in the Finder, connecting to a network drive can take 20-30 seconds or more and as many as twelve mouse clicks. NDL allows you to automate this process to a simple double-click that takes just six seconds, or zero clicks when it is set to connect automatically at login. For those who like the "Connect to Server..." menu NDL saves you the trouble of remembering or looking up IP address, saves you from typing long cryptic URIs, and finally you don't have to worry about putting it all together with the AppleScript's Script Editor, since NDL does all this for you. With Network Drive Launcher you will create quick launchers that are more reliable than the Finder's aliases to networked drives. Since the Finders aliases as of Mac OS v 10.4 use local file system paths relative to the System. If the Finder is delayed in refreshing the local network servers, you may get an unnecessary error of a broken alias, when you try to connect using a regular alias to a networked volume. NDL is configured to use direct URI paths which include the specific network protocol, such as smb, afp, and ftp. So minding the details of what "afp" or "smb" is it just means you connect directly to your network drives faster and more reliably. Here are some key features of "Network Drive Launcher": · Allows the creation of "mini AppleScript applications" that are dedicated to connecting to a specific network drive of your choosing. · The mini AppleScript applications works just like regular Mac OS X applications, and can be placed in the Dock for one click access, for simple one-click* connecting to your network drives. · NDL is easy to use utility with a small footprint, that only needs to be run when you want to create a new application for connecting to a drive. · Easy 1 click* option for connecting a network disks at login. You no longer have to go into system preferences manually to add the drives you want to connect to at login. · Saves scripts by default directly to your user Scripts Folder, so the quick launchers will have a nice convenient place to be stored. In addition you can save them anywhere you would put any other application or file. · *with the use of the keychain to remember the user name and password. Requirements: · Apple's Script Editor Application. · 7-10 MB of RAM to run both Network Drive Launcher and Script Editor. · 844 KB of Disk space for the Network Drive Launcher application install. · 60 KB of Disk space for each quick launcher application created What's New in This Release: · This update Fixes an AppleScript error when NDL1.0 is ran on Mac Os X v10.5 and there is only one partition and zero network drives are attached. This update is only for Leopard user and is not necessary for user running Mac OS x v10.4 Tiger.
