MacFileSafeguard Description

MacFileSafeguard is a streamlined and easy-to-use Mac OS X application designed to help you protect sensitive data from prying eyes by password-protecting the folders which matter. More specifically, MacFileSafeguard prevents other users from reading, writing or deleting folders. The installation requires a computer restart and, after launching the app, a menu bar panel will be displayed. From there, you can activate / deactivate the app’s security layer and open the desktop window a.k.a the Editor. In the Editor, you can specify which folders you want to protect by just clicking the “New” button. In the panel that follows, you can navigate to the folder you want to secure and choose which actions you want to be allowed: read, write or delete. Note that if you do not want an action to be allowed, you must deselect it. Furthermore, the protected folders are displayed as a detailed list that also includes the folder path. If you want to change the permission options, you can click on the Edit button, which opens the folder selection window. As mentioned before, you can turn on / off the authorization with a click, but you can also choose to prevent permission changes and to allow / disable the system files / folders permissions warnings. Moreover, the global password can be changed in the Preferences window. In short, MacFileSafeguard is not the most complex tool that can secure your files and folders, but is really easy to work with and provides a strong security method. Also, the app disables access to anyone who does not know the password you came up with.
