LibData Description

An open source web delivered database application designed for, but not limited to, public and academic libraries LibData is a library oriented web based application which provides authoring environments for subject pathfinders (Research QuickStart), course related pages (CourseLib) and general purpose web pages (PageScribe). LibData encompasses all of these applications, but a typical installation need only take advantage of one or two of them - great local emphasis and variation is thus possible. What's New in This Release: General changes: · LibData is now bundled in a single tar. Admin side extracts to "libdata_admin", public side extracts to "libdata". · Written for PHP register_globals = Off. LibData will continue to work in PHP 5 with the ON setting, but be advised that PHP 6 will no longer allow ON. · Released for mySQL 5.x. The install script libload.pl and create.sql utilize the GRANT command to create the libdata and libsession mySQL users. · Renamed "global_vars.php" and all of its references to "libdata_vars.php", to avoid any confusion that these are PHP global variables. They are not global -- they are in-scope only where the file is specified by an include() or require() statement. Database changes: · LibData staff accounts have passwords stored using the recommended mySQL SHA() function. The libdata.staff.password field has been changed to CHAR(40) to accomodate.
