JxtASK Description

Free and open source W2P software for your Mac JXTAsk is a free and open source W2P program based on industry standards XML, JXTA, designed for simply search and share files from University portal.Each peer retrieves an XML catalog from the portal (or from other peers), W2P is different from P2P since if no one peer has got the wanted file, JXTAsk will download it directly from the website. JXTAsk gives to portal administrators that joins the JXTAsk community to reduce the traffic and the processing needs since JXTAsk doesn't query the portal to search since it uses other peers to search across the catalogs, again JXTAsk has got also a File Sharing feature that permits to share files from university portals. Requirements: · Java 1.6 or later What's New in This Release: · introduced timeout mechanism: if a peer doesn't receive an answer within the timeout it will download the catalog directly from the URL search locally or download the file directly from the URL fixed cache bugs upgrading to jxta 2.5 stable
