Java RDF Binding Description

A standard set of APIs and base implementations to RDF JRDF consists of a standard set of APIs and base implementations to RDF (Resource Description Framework) using the latest version of the Java language. The API will cover anything that is deemed to be useful for Java programmers. A key aspect will be to ensure a high degree of modularity and to follow standard Java conventions.Current Java APIs for RDF have some drawbacks and many strengths. Some do not follow the current RDF specification exactly or lack features that are appropriate to certain use cases. Also, there are many common aspects to existing APIs with only slight differences in method names, package hierarchies and exception handling. Here are some key features of "Java RDF Binding": · A Graph API (including graph comparison and graph set-based operations), · Creating and manipulating Graph objects (Statements, Resources, Nodes, etc.), · In memory and disk based graphs with a standard system level interface for storing triples, · IoC support (currently using Spring 2), · RDF Datatypes, · Local (where nodes are tied to a graph/store) and global (where they are not) RDF statements, and · Query Handling including SPARQL support (including results, transport, etc). What's New in This Release: · Removal of ValueOperations with introduction of new FILTER implementation (Feature 2820351). · Significant performance increase with new merge join operations. (Feature 2820350). · ASK query support (Feature 2820352). · Create Groovy RDF Builder (Feature 2820362). · N3 Parser and SPARQL Benchmarking (Feature 2820363). · Follows SPARQL rather than Relational semantics for empty graph patterns (Bug 2405529). · RdfWriter has the wrong kinds of exceptions (Bug 2302897). · Make Checked Exceptions Unchecked (Bug 2820359). · Java 6 sTaX (XML Pull Parser) has different behavior than Woodstox causing · a problem with XML Literal writing (Bug 2272447). · Multiple calls to find do not release memory (Bug 2820364).
