Internet Startup Description

Internet Startup - Dial-up modem users utility Internet Startup is a utility for dial-up modem users; it loads all your Internet software (e.g. e-mail client, Web browser, chat clients) while dialling up your Internet connection. To make things quicker, pre-set groups of applications can be set up, which can be chosen with a single mouse click or set to be selected automatically when the program loads. The program will automatically quit once the connection has been made.Main features of Internet Startup:Applications can be set to be hidden after loadThe program can be set to load your software and dial the connection automatically upon loadingNotification of successful and unsuccessful connection attempts, for users with internal modems or external modems without a connection status lightBackground connection lets you dial the connection without seeing the white Remote Access connection dialog 1.What's New in This Release:Optional notification when the connection is established and when the connection attempt fails. The latter is done via OS notification, and the former is done by playing a sound of the user's choice. These two features are enabled by default, and a default sound file is provided.A new Base group on checkbox and pop-up menu in the group creation dialog to replace the old Base group on custom group checkbox; you can now base a new group on any other group, including the custom group if one exists. When cancelling a connection attempt, Internet Startup now waits for the connection to close.Applications are no longer reloaded or hidden if you retry a connection attempt applications that are already running are detected and left alone. However, AppleScripts that load and thereafter quit will be relaunched as the program will not detect their presence the second time around. You can now turn off confirmation of deletion of applications and groups. When applications have been marked to be hidden on load, the program waits for 50 seconds for applications to load, and then if the apps have still not been detected, it exits. However, if any of the programs were AppleScript applets, an error message is displayed instead, in case the applets are of the type that exit shortly after load and cannot effectively be hidden.Aliases are automatically resolved when adding applications to the preferences; previously, the program stored a reference to the alias itself. The Preferences dialog will no longer open partially off-screen on smaller monitors (such as 640x480 PowerBooks).A small change was made to the Reveal code that should considerably improve its speed on some machines at least.Clicking Cancel now always cancels the auto-hide process.Other user interface fixes and improvements, including better and more complete balloon help.A lot of optimisation and tidying to bring down the size of the program to prevent it crashing on 68k machines. This includes a new limitation that under 68k, the Reveal button in the Preferences dialog will only operate on one selected application at a time, although this limitation can probably be removed.
