Start and Stop MySQL server with Loepard MySQL is the well known database that we all can download and install on our Macs; it comes in bundle with a System Preferences panel to start and stop the MySQL server and even to check its state. With Leopard the preference pane supplied with MySQL doesn't work for some reason. In addition some default position has changed with Leopard. This widget avoids the need to remember the terminal string and also the need to go to Terminal!.InerziaMySQL requires an Administrator password each time the widget is launched; the suggestion is to leave it open in the Dashboard; the password, once accepted, is hidden and no one can see it. Anyway, it is maintained during the session, even if it is not showed. I suggest to keep this widget open until you need it: it needs a minimal memory and no CPU load.The effect of giving the password to the system is constrained only within the time necessary to perform the MySQL command and after that it is forgotten. This way, if you leave your Mac alone, nobody can go to the Terminal and give commands as Administrator.The widget shows the MySQL status and offer a button to start or stop it.
