ImProVis Description

A Java little program that enables you to process, visualize and analyze images In a nutshell, ImProVis focuses on the development of a Java routine for an efficient and fast 2D/3D image processing. ImProVis stands for IMage PROcessing, VISualization and analysis. The goal of Improvis is to provide a simple yet efficient framework of tools for visualizing 2D and 3D images and sequences efficiently but also to perform image processing and analysis tasks with only very basic programming knowledge. Image data structures are optimized for a fast and repetitive pixel access so that the plugins may seemlessly rely on the native code or some parallel architectures to speed-up computations. Finally, high-level analysis plugins can be created directly from the graphical interface by assembling low-level plugins together into a macro. Macros are intended to be published on a public server, allowing users to benefit from community manpower to perform efficient tasks without even touching the code. Requirements: · Java What's New in This Release: · The imaging API has been entirely rewritten from scratch and now tops the native AWT. This yields much greater performance and removes the need for a dual implementation as was done before. · Support for live color manipulation. · Variable creation and manipulation also rewritten (almost) from scratch. The code is cleaner and more flexible (new variable types can easily be added) · Support for some array-type variables (currently integers, doubles and sequences). · Plug-ins can be written and compiled using the built-in editor, and loaded at run-time without restarting the app. Note however that plug-ins cannot be saved to disk yet, and that plug-in names are currently fixed to a default generated name. · BONUS 1: change look'n'feel on-the-fly to make the interface suit your tastes (uses the "substance" library). · BONUS 2: implemented a basic multi-threading API allowing easy parallelization of tasks directly within plug-ins.
