Just enable extensions in Safari 5, install the extension and configure it from the Preferences window.The extension will automatically check the Gmail account that you are currently logged into. Gmail Checker for Safari does not currently support several accounts, and, unfortunately can not simultaneously check both Gmail and another custom e-mail client.
