Color Decoder Description

Reveals color-coded information in charts, maps, radar, and other images Color Decoder reveals color-coded information in charts, maps, radar, and other images which may have been hidden to you, particularly if you lack normal color vision (commonly referred to as being colorblind).Color Decoder works in realtime identifying colors and areas of color on your computer's entire screen with no window to open or frame to position. Being extraordinarily simple in operation, Color Decoder allows people to use the computer normally, mouse clicks work as expected and applications will still update the screen as usual. Color Decoder watches the color under the mouse pointer, displays the color's name near the cursor, optionally speaks its name using speech synthesis, and blinks areas where the same color appears on the screen. Color Decoder works system-wide and is effective for nearly all Mac OS X Leopard applications from web browsers to spreadsheets. Here are some key features of "Color Decoder": Color Tag: · The Color Tag appears near the mouse cursor and can include the name of the color under the cursor, a magnified image of the pixels around the cursor, and the numeric values of the color's components. The Color Tag automatically moves out of the way of the cursor's direction of travel. For fine positioning, the relative location of the panel does not change with small movements. The tag automatically hides when you start typing. Blink Colors: · Color Decoder can blink every pixel on the screen with the exactly the same color as the pixel under the mouse cursor or blink all pixels with similar colors. This feature helps you understand weather radar, maps, and documents with color-coded graphs or charts. Speech: · Color Decoder can speak the name of color or the numeric values of its components or both. If desired, it can also speak its current on/off status and instructions for turning it on or off. For Designers: · Color Decoder lets you request SVG 1.0/CSS3 color names and you can have Color Decoder display or speak a color's RGB or L*a*b* values. You can choose hex or decimal for RGB and display your monitor's RGB values or have them converted to the standard sRGB color space. You can copy the current color value to the clipboard. When you've chosen to display the RGB value in hex, the clipboard will contain a color specification ready for pasting. Other Features: · Color Decoder requires no special privileges, has no hidden processes, and does not inject code into any other application. · Color Decoder is a Universal binary that runs natively on Intel or PowerPC Macs. · Color Decoder supports multiple monitors attached to your Mac and automatically detects changes to your display configuration. The blink effect, color names, and magnifier are only shown on the monitor to which you move the mouse pointer. · cColor Decoder is compatible with screen sharing applications such as Motorola's Timbuktu Pro as well as Apple's screen sharing products. Blinking large areas of color can cause slowdowns over remote connections so you might want to set Blink to None in Color Decoder's Preferences' Display tab. Limitations: · 7 days trial What's New in This Release: · Color Tag. Color Decoder 1.1 displays the magnifier, color name, and pixel values in a single floating panel that adapts to your preference settings. Instead of a fixed position relative to the mouse cursor, the panel automatically moves out of the way of the cursor's direction of travel. · Color Matching. When it looks up color names, Color Decoder 1.1 compensates for your display's color profile and searches in the L*a*b* color space, providing more consistent name matches. Color Decoder can also detect exact pixel matches when determining areas of color to blink, with approximate matching still available as a preference. · Preferences. The floating settings window has become a normal application preferences window and provides many more ways to customize Color Decoder's behavior. · For Designers. Color Decoder lets you request SVG 1.0/CSS3 color names and you can have Color Decoder display or speak a color's RGB or L*a*b* values. You can choose hex or decimal for RGB and display your monitor's RGB values or have them converted to the standard sRGB color space. You can copy the current color value to the clipboard. When you've chosen to display the RGB value in hex, the clipboard will contain a color specification ready for pasting. · More Control. You can turn Color Decoder on and off from its Dock menu, have it shut off automatically after 10, 30 or 60 seconds and configure whether Color Decoder is initially on or off when it starts up. You can require a modifier key in addition to the F-key to turn Color Decoder on or off and change the modifier key for copy-to-clipboard to something other than the command key. · Speech Options. You can change Color Decoder's voice and shorten or squelch spoken status messages while still having audible color names. To eliminate surprises, all speech options default to off when Color Decoder is first installed. Color Decoder no longer interrupts itself, doesn't stutter when moving across several different colors, and speech works even on slow Macs. · Energy Savings. Color Decoder still pauses after you haven't moved the mouse for 15 seconds, but now it consumes no processor time just as if you had shut it off. It still resumes immediately when you move the mouse. Color Decoder immediately pauses when you type to both save energy and eliminate distraction. When Color Decoder is used on a system with more than one monitor, it only processes the contents of the monitor with the cursor.
