Betty Description

An open source, versatile and configurable betting website Betty is an open source, versatile and configurable betting website, that you can install in your own network. Betty enables you to make friendly bets / forecasts between colleagues or between friends. Betty does not promote in any way betting for money: in turn, there is no provision for such bets in the server. Here are some key features of "Betty": · Multiple concurrent championships are possible, while the user base remains the same. · Configurable bet model (an ordered sub-list of a list of players, the scores of a confrontation, the winner of a confrontation); other models may be added through Java plug-ins. · Fully accessible and language-neutral interfaces through simple HTTP+XML remote requests: you can make your own user interface from the API set, for example in Java, .NET, JavaScript+HTML, PHP, ASP, etc. · Adobe Flash Web client as built-in user interface, essentially for betters. · GWT (Google Web Toolkit, HTML+JavaScript) Web client as built-in user interface for administrators. · RSS 2.0 feeds including latest updates and additions, targeted for betters or administrators (English only). · Easy-to-use installation wizard on Windows platforms. · Support for different languages (at the time of writing, English and French translations are available). · Multiple time zones can be mixed: this is in particular useful for defining worldwide championships. · Server installation on a Windows or a Linux platform as a service, in order to make the server available most of the time. · A project documentation as complete as possible Requirements: · Java Limitations: · The Betty Web application has not been specifically designed to be hosted on the open Internet; it is targeted to private networks (LANs) · The language modification in the Flash client does not propagate quite well, in particular to the tree labels and to the combo-box widths. Workaround (for trees): open or close any tree item · The RSS feeds are only available in the English language What's New in This Release: · New championship definition: FIA Formula One 2009 · New XML attribute in the 'championship' and 'phase' elements: 'startdate', the start date of the championship or phase (i.e. the date of their first event) · Used to sort the championships and the championship's phases by start date · The JBoss login configuration file ('conf/login-config.xml') is no more used to configure the Betty login module; · instead, a dedicated login module is now present in 'deploy/betty/betty.sar', and configured through a DynamicLoginConfig MBean · Castor version upgraded to 1.3 · PMD version upgraded to 4.2.5 · Apache Ant 1.7.1 has been used to build the distribution · The Sun JDK 1.6.0_12 has been used to build the distribution
