Allowable Blood Loss Description

Estimates acceptable blood loss based on the patient's information Allowable Blood Loss (ABL) will calculate the amount of blood that could be lost given the patient''s current hematocrit, weight and tolerated lowest hematocrit. The calculations are based on the work of Bourke and Smith ( 1974).ABL has two modes; terse and teaching.ABL's unique dynamic interface will allow the user to rapidly calculate a range of values, giving the user a chance to see how changing the lowest acceptable hematocrit value will effect allowable blood loss. There are no extra steps required in the calculation. Once a value is changed, ABL recognizes this and rapidly updates the result. ABL remembers the last values used and enables the user to create personal profiles. These profiles can be used to create a range of values from neonates to the bariatric patient.Note: To test the application, you need to request a 30-day trial license here. Here are some key features of "Allowable Blood Loss": · Terse Mode: Based on the differences in Natural Logarithms, the result is displayed in the result field. · Teaching Mode: Both the above equation and a second equation developed by Bourke and Smith, are shown line by line, for your examination, in the verbose field. Limitations: · 30-day trial What's New in This Release: · Added option to replace trial license code with a permanent one. · Miscellaneous cosmetic fixes.
