ActionMethod Description

Radical approach to productivity and project management Action Method is a radically different approach to productivity, created to simplify your project management tasks and life. All of life can be divided into "projects" - the categories we use in our minds to separate and make sense of what we need to accomplish (e.g. "the party I'm planning," "event Y," "client X," "finances&quoThe Action Method helps you manage your projects starting with the most basic element – Action Steps.Design is a critical element of the Action Method. The products and services developed by Behance to help people practice the Action Method are based on the belief that good design is great for productivity; and that progress in any project ultimately comes down to taking action. ACTION STEPS are tasks that need to be completed. Each Action Step should start with a verb: "Call Y," "Follow up with X," "Buy a gift for Z."REFERENCES are notes, links, files, sketches - any information related to a project that gives context to your Action Steps.BACKBURNERS are the brilliant ideas that you want to come back to later, but are not yet actionable.DISCUSSIONS enable you to manage ongoing conversations across all of your projects with anyone that works with you. All relevant communications (shared documents, solutions to problems, feedback, decisions) are in one place.EVENTS are the key occasions/meetings/milestones/etc toward which you (and your team) are working. Events can be used to coordinate deadlines for Action Steps. Here are some key features of "ActionMethod": Multiple Delegation: · When creating a new Action Step, you can now delegate the step to multiple people at once. This does NOT mean that many people will share responsibility for the same step (which would be an accountability nightmare). Instead, you will be generating multiple steps that contain the same text. For example, if you want everyone in your office to read an article, you can create the Action Step once, and generate multiple versions simply by delegating to all your team members. E-Mail to Action: · On the go and thought of something you need to do? You can now email yourself an Action Step, by typing the text of your Action Step into an email and sending to your unique AMO address (find yours in Account Settings>Advanced Preferences). This AMO address will only accept messages from email accounts that you have verified, but feel free to add as many email accounts to your AMO as you wish. "Neutral" Messaging: · Many of you asked us for the ability to send a "neutral" message within the AMO system - one that was neither a Nag nor an Appreciate. You ask, we develop. Select the talk bubble icon on the bottom left to Nag, Appreciate, or simply Message. Action Method Tips: · To add even more value to your Action Method, we have created tips that pop up when you log into AMO. These tips are based on Behance's years of research as well as best practices from particularly productive AMO users. So enjoy and watch your Action increase even faster! (Don't like seeing tips? Simply click the box, "I don't want any more tips" and you will never see them again). Address Book Searching: · You can now search your Address Book. Simply enter your search term(s) in the live search field at the top right of your screen. Contact Import: · You can now import your contacts into your Address Book from all major mail providers (Gmail, Yahoo, etc) as well as Outlook, Outlook Express, and Thunderbird. Go to Address Book and load 'em up! Easier Collaboration: · When viewing the Action Steps of an Event, you can also see the Action Steps of users who are sharing that Event. Default Filters and Start Page: · You can now change your default settings, through Advanced Preferences (in Account Settings). You can select the default screen for when you log in. You can also select filters for each tab (e.g. Action Steps will default to Target Date view). More Visibility: · When someone chooses to share a project's activity with you, you can now view all the contents of their project (its action steps, references, discussions, etc) in Project View (just use the new drop downs). This will give you an at-a-glance view of everything they are working on. Completed Dates: · When viewing your completed Action Steps, you can now select the "target date" icon to view your steps by which date they were completed. More Discussion Filters: · Your full list of Discussions can now be sorted by project, by latest post, or by oldest post. More Event Filters: · You can now sort your Events by Current Events and Past Events. We've also added a Target Date view to Events - just click the Target Date icon on the top right. Time Format: · Want to see dates displayed in European format (day/month)? You now have that option. Go to "Time Zone and Date Format Settings" under "Account Settings" in the top right drop down. Sign Up Existing Friends: · If you have a discount code and you're signing up new people to your existing account, you can use that same code for all additional subscriptions. Easier Uploading: · Premium user who started a Discussion? Anyone - even those with an Introductory Plan - can upload files to Discussion that was created by a Premium Plan subscriber. Printer Page 2.0: · We've improved print view - now when you print all your Action Steps, you can see which projects they belong to or their target dates, depending on which view you've selected. Requirements: · Adobe AIR Limitations: · Up to 50 New Action Steps
