Medical Linux is an open source and completely free operating system based off of Xubuntu, the Xfce flavor of the world’s most popular distribution of Linux, Ubuntu. It uses Xfce as its default and only desktop environment and includes applications designed for the health industry. It is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD The distribution is available for download as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image that has been engineered to run well on both modern and old computers, supporting the 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures. The user must write the ISO image on a DVD disc or a USB flash drive of 4GB or higher capacity in order to boot it and use it on a computer. Features the Xfce desktop environment As mentioned, the distribution is built around the Xfce desktop environment, which uses a traditional layout comprised of a single panel. The panel is located on the bottom edge of the screen and designed to allow the user to quickly navigate the main menu and launch applications, as well as to interact with running programs.
