Debate Copy is a Firefox extension that can: - Enhance Google News and Lexis results with expandable full text- Save images from Google & Amazon books- Ctrl+X to easier reading of news articles- Select to copy plain text- Tab to power-search Google- Tools>Copy All URLsOPTIONSOpen addon options (Tools>Addons>Debate Copy>Options) to customize the look of the cite, enable autocopy, and turn on Google News and Lexis enhanced views by default (Press Ctrl+X on the results page if you don't have it on by default.) The custom cite formatting recognizes author, date, fullauthor, fulldate, title, and url. For example, I have the following (using curly quotes):author date (fullauthor, fulldate, “title”, url, AG)ENHANCED NEWS RESULTSGoogle News and Lexis Academic results are enhanced with custom formatted cites for each result.There are many other enhancements if you click on the following: = expand the result's preview text into the full article text and copy the cite and full text as plain text = remove the result = move the result to the topCopy Expanded = copies all expanded results (cite and full text) with formatting such as bold textCopy Expanded as Plain Text = copies all expanded results (cite and full text) as plain textExpand All = expands all results on the page (can take some time on Google News)Size -- and Size ++ = decrease/increase the text size of resultsLoad More... = append the results from the next page to the bottom of the current results (Google News only)AUTOCOPYTo copy selection as plain text, select the text. This is disabled in text boxes, and you can still Ctrl+C to copy formatted text.To copy selection as plain text with the URL, select the text and press Ctrl+Alt+C, or right click and select "Copy with URL."SAVE EBOOKSTo save page images from Google Books, right click on them and select Save Image As. Then press Ctrl+X to get the formatted cite, and a link to OCR the page image and look up author qualifications.To save page images from Amazon Books's Look Inside, press Ctrl+X.To use this on IE or Chrome, right click on any bookmark, select “Properties” or “Edit”, and change the URL to javascript:window.open(document.getElementById('viewport').getElementsByTagName('img').src+'&w=1200')CARD VIEWTo view the page in a debate-card-friendly format, press Ctrl+X or right click and select "View Debate Card." For pages without a "Print" link it will attempt to isolate the main document body and display only that, along with the URL and page title. For pages with a "Print" link, like most news articles, it will click the link.TAB TO SEARCHTo power-search a selection in Google, select text and press Tab (this is disabled in text boxes). This will search with these advanced options: 100 results/page, longer text previews, safe search off, limited to specific date (by default, after 2002), showing date of each result, and with the advanced options sidebar visible. Press Tab on the results page to go to the first hit.COPY URLS OF ALL TABSTo copy a list of the URLs of all open tabs, go to the Tools menu and select "Copy All URLs." Requirements: · Mozilla Firefox What's New in This Release: MAJOR ENHANCEMENTS TO NEWS RESULTS FEATURE: · Added User Options: Customize cite look, and turn on/off autocopy and automatic news results formatting · Support for Lexis Academic News and Law results (Lexis Scholastic/Google News Archive still to come) · Expanding Google news results is much more precise · New interface using image buttons and alternating color rows and a new "Move to top" button · A bar on top of results with ability to copy all expanded articles as formatted or plain text, expand all articles on the page at once, and adjust font size · Google News results has a "Load More..." link on the bottom so you can load more articles without losing the ones you have already expanded/removed OTHER: · Ctrl+X will now use "Card View" (a sanitized version of the page, showing the main body text) instead of No Style mode, when a Print link is not found. This feature is a prelude to what is to come in future versions. · numerous bug fixes · icon · smaller file size (no longer using jQuery)
