usbmount for Slackware 12.2 and 13.0 usbmount for Slackware is a port of Debian's usbmount for Slackware 12.2 and Slackware 13.0. It uses udev/udevd to mount usb mass storage devices to /media/usb0 ... /media/usb7 after plugin. A regular user, which has to be a memeber of the floppy group, may read and write to the mounted media.If you are not using a Desktop environment supporting mounts through HAL, this package may be useful.See README.debian for more details.The Debian package needs lockfile utilities not present on a Slack 12.2 install. Binaries are included. Source is in this package under src/ for the curious.In contrast to the original Debian package, vfat support is enabled by default.On disconnect the device is unmounted automatically. Usage of this feature to disconnect a device is not recommended! You should unmount the device manually to avoid data loss, especially using vfat file systems. If you remove a device accidentally without unmounting, this feature helps to prevent stale mounts.Creation and deletion of symbolic links in /var/run/usbmount is disabled, as they are not properly maintained for manually unmounted devices or removed cards from some card-readers which stay itself connected.To install usbmount change your working directory to the location of the extracted package and run ./slackinstall.sh as root.To remove usbmount make sure that no device is mounted on /media/usb* and change your working directory to the location of the extracted package.
