pySoft is a tool that checks for new versions of software. pySoft is a tool for checking for new versions of software. It can check any software for which an appropriate checker script has been written. Scripts for several popular programs are included. InstallingSimply copy 'pysoft' to your /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin, chmod it to 755, it should look like this:cp pysoft /usr/binchmod 755 /usr/bin/pysoftls -l /usr/bin/pysoft-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 2851 2005-03-22 12:01 pysoft.pyPlease check path to your python executable, it is in first line in 'pysoft' executable. Next copy all modules/* to directory you want to place it, eg.mkdir -p /usr/share/pysoftcp modules/* /usr/share/pysoft/Now edit your config file, if you re root, you can do it in /etc/software file, i recommend this. So you can do ~/.pysoft :) How to edit your config file is described in 'config.example' fileNow you are ready to run pySoft!UsingIn first time you should read help, and look for switches"pysoft -h"Obligatory is "-c" which point at your config file. Next one you must use is "-m", this one poins to your modules directory.Eg. if you do /etc/software config file and modules dir is /usr/share/pysoft you should run pySoft in that way:"pysoft -c /etc/software -m /usr/share/pysoft"
