met.a Description

Embeds relevant metadata into the pictures you download More or less a zero-config tool that makes no demands for you to change your current method of downloading pictures, it just works. All the data you wish would be included in pictures form the internet now just is. Magic. The met.a add-on works in the background to embed relevant metadata into the pictures you download: attaching the URL for future reference, the Title of the webpage (allowing it to be searched for in 'human terms' on your HDD) and any portion of text you care to highlight on a webpage will be saved as comments.Designed not to leave anybody behind met.a will work on:Mac OS X (Intel/PPC) Leopard 10.5xLinux Ubuntu Live 9.0.4Win Vista SP1 (not XP)~automatically configuring to what OS you're using so don't worry. As with all simple things, there's a fair bit going on behind the scenes, visit for feature explanations:http://www.meta.projectmio.com/meta_beta.htmlDeveloper commentsThis is a BETA release and there are bugs, but I need to know if there are any more so please do use the contact details on my website to let me know. Also, this BETA phase is in English (GB) but will be localised into about six languages when ready.Tell your friends!! Requirements: · Mozilla Firefox What's New in This Release: · Write Title: The Title of the webpage will be embedded into the image for use as valuable search criteria. · Recorded Delivery: This option will cater for the formats that met.a can't, in effect all of the metadata that would otherwise be embedded is written into a text file and saved (with the same name as the image e.g. "abc.bmp" would have a text file named "abc.txt") alongside the image in the default save folder. · The user will see each erroneous image and the accompanying text file directly beneath (if folder is sorted alphabetically) ready to make the decision to put them together themselves in a 3rd party app. · Fodder folder: Rather than keep offending files intermingled with positively tagged imagery have these (typically PNG/GIF/BMP) images shuttled to a separate folder called "Fodder" where each format has its own sub folder. (default location to desktop, but the user can decide an alternate location via "…" button next to title in met.a options). · Format u?o??: When hovering over a non-taggable image (PNG/GIF/BMP) a sad faced pop-up bubble (embedded tooltip) will show, for one second (default), then disappear. The extension of the image dictates the graphic shown. · · · · Languages: met.a is to be localised into the following languages: English (GB), Spanish, French, Polish, Italian, Russian. Languages will be chosen based on the language of your computer. note that localisation will only appear in the final product and not the beta. · Download thumbnail only: met.a always goes for the largest image available it can download, but sometimes you might just want th thumbnail, in which case simply hold down the SHIFT key and save as normal, the menu text would subtlety change from "Save Image As…" to "Save Thumbnail As…" · Point-&-Click: For speed sakes downloading images will work with a single left mouse click while holding a hotkey. For Mac users its "?" key, while for Windows users its the "Ctrl" key. note also that saving thumbnails with the SHIFT key will work with this feature too! · I'm Lazy: This will *always* embed all visible text from a webpage into the downloaded image, thus avoiding the need to select any text. Useful for projects where you will always need all of the data on a page. Or, if you're just lazy. · Extra notes: When selecting text that has a link in it, met.a will now show the link in the metadata e.g. "home" (hyperlink) changes to "home " also, when downloading images which already contain metadata met.a will overwrite the fields it caters for unless advised not to
