gitver Description

gitver is an open source, easy-to-use, simple and flexible command-line software written in Python and designed to act as a version string management for Git, based on tags. In other words, gitver is capable of generating Git version strings simply by using a mix between repository information (augmented by user-defined data) and Python-based formatting rules. With gitver it’s very easy to adopt versioning schemes like Semantic Versioning. It also keeps version information up-to-date at all times.
