Connect your music Simplify Media is a free software that connects you directly to your music.Enjoy songs from home while at work or from any WiFi location. Explore friends' music while they are online.Getting Started1) Download and uncompress simplifymedia.tar.gz2) Configure your player to work with Simplify Media. The included ReadMe has all of the details.3) Launch SimplifyMedia and sign in with your Simplify Media screen name and password. If you don't have a free account, create one from the sign-in screen.4) Invite more friends to enjoy more music. Now, Linux, PCs, Macs and iPhones can all connect.Step-by-step instructions for Ubuntu:1) Download and unzip simplifymedia.tar.gz. Review the ReadMe and, for Rhythmbox, run the setup script.2) Launch Simplify Media and review the software license.3) Create your free account by entering a screen name and password. Use your same screen name to sign in on your other computers.4) Add an email address and a name for this computer. Your email address is used to send you a new password in case you forget yours.5) Final set-up step: pick music to share. You can select folders - or nothing at all.Only you and the people you invite can stream music from your computer.Note: it will take several minutes for your songs to start to be available, and it may take an hour or more for the scan process to complete if your library is very large.The Media List displays the status of the computers you are connected to.To access more music, invite friends (limit 30).To chat with friends, click on their names. The Messages tab lets you see when others are playing your music.To play music, open Rhythmbox. Simplify Media libraries appear under Shared.Tip: use search and browse to explore large libraries.Note: Simplify Media can run in server-only mode. Please refer to the ReadMe for details.Simplify Media has been tested on Ubuntu 8.04, and this version is required for Rhythmbox integration.To run on 64-bit OS, install ia32-libs. Integrated: · Play music using iTunes, Winamp or Rhythmbox. Safe: · Only your group can access what you are sharing, and no one can see your other files. Legal: · Files are streamed only within your private group. Universal: · Connect across PC, Mac and Linux desktops and the iPhone and iPod Touch. Limitations: · Playback: Song lengths may display inaccurately and the song progress bar is not operational. · · Server: Only mp3 files can be streamed from Linux machines. Also, playlists cannot be shared from Linux.
