Rattail Description

Retail Software Framework Rattail is a Python package that provides the underlying database schema, and methods for extending it.Some console commands are available for interacting with Rattail-compatible databases.Its development is made possible through my employment at MaMa Jean's Natural Market, for whom the primary functionality is initially targeted. I'm trying to keep an eye open to the future though, to ensure the framework will be useful to others in the retail industry.The project's overall goal is to provide a common, but extensible, database schema and an API for accessing and manipulating it. The idea is that applications (console, GUI, web) can be created quickly and have as much customization as is needed for any particular organization. Some, though not all, of the inspiration behind the project comes from IS4C/Fannie, especially this forum topic.Since a framework isn't terribly interesting by itself, especially to the average business or organization, the "real" reason for its existence is to support a Point of Sale application (again, for MaMa Jean's). There also will be a back-end database management and reporting system. And there's another project (not mine) that will be handling special- and case-order submission and tracking, and which will also use Rattail. More on that later... Requirements: · Python
