NasuWiki Description

Wiki::Nasu is a wiki that tastes like eggplant. Wiki::Nasu is a wiki that tastes like eggplant. Here are some key features of "NasuWiki":· No unnecessary StudlyCaps! If you really want LotsOfStudlyCaps, you can have them. But by default, pages can be named in a fairly free-form manner (yes, even spaces and many forms of punctuation are allowed) and the linking will still work.· An real live administrative interface! The wiki administrator can create user accounts for those (s)he deems worthy. And squish them if they become unworthy. In case you don't like the web administration interface, you can do almost as much via command-line tools.· Text format based on Todd Coram's excellent AFT ("Almost Free Text") software. You don't even need to know HTML to contribute content. AFT looks mostly like plain old ASCII text.· Maintains its own complete revision history! Pages are stored in an RCS repository, so you can see how they change over time.· Authorized users may set their own preferences. They can even set their own time zone, so dates and times are displayed in a friendly manner.· On-line help system, installed with every wiki! The help pages are just ordinary pages within the wiki. Nearly everything you need to know about the wiki is documented there. It even includes samples of AFT for the lazy (or easily confused) and a list of known bugs.· Simple to set up and maintain. Run the bootstrapping script included with the software, edit a short text file, and point your web browser at it. You can do everything else through your browser! You don't really need to know Perl (though it helps), because all the wiki code is tucked away in modules; the CGI program itself is very short and simple.· Easy on the eyes, easy on the browser. NasuWiki works very well with text-mode browsers like Lynx, Links, and w3m. Oh, it works in graphical browsers too. And it only requires authorized users to accept one measly cookie that is only ever given to the wiki.· Very portable! Runs anywhere CGI programs written in Perl can run. Just make sure that the rcs program is somewhere in your PATH; the rest should take care of itself.· Customize the look! The pages are generated through a template system, and they use one simple style sheet. Edit the style sheet and the templates, and your changes can be seen on your very next page view. You can even change the icon that appears at the top of every page -- just put a PNG-format image in the right place and you're done.· Funky error messages! Okay, so you may have to try to generate such error messages, but I hope you are amused by them when you do find them. :-)· Environmentally friendly! NasuWiki is cruelty-free and contains no animal products whatsoever. It is made from 100% recycled vegetable electrons, obtained from hand-picked organic eggplants grown by aboriginal farmers. You can use NasuWiki with a clear conscience, knowing that you are not doing anything to further spoil our planet. It's very nutritious!
