LinuxSpeaks is a collection of Perl modules and scripts which are merely front end applications to many audio command line apps. LinuxSpeaks is a collection of Perl modules and scripts as well as a few TCL, Python and bash scripts that aspire to be a comprehensive aural, sight free user interface to the Linux operating system. Excluding the editor, these scripts are merely front end applications to many command line applications already written and reasonably tested.Configuration for espeak, festival, and cepstral are easily made within Linux Speaks. It is relatively easy to configure for others as well.Speaktcledit, the text editor, is a Linux console speaking text editor that has many features including spell check, print file to printer, cut, copy and paste and more. It is based on tcledit.tcl a console text editor written in pure tcl by Steve Redler IV and Adly Abdullah. Speaktcledit also uses the festcl package written by Tom Poindexter for festival server text to speech functions.
