Lifebox Description
A PHP/MySQL media management system Lifebox, an open source media management system, was designed for large collections of videos or photos. It's very fast, lightweight, and looks great. Lifebox uses e-mail authentication for per-photo or per-album access control. It is non-destructive and will never make changes to the media directory. Lifebox does not support uploading because of its non-destructive nature and so uploading must be done through a third-party system such as SFTP or SCP. CONFIGURATIONSite configuration is done through the config.inc.php file located in the "config" directory. Once the site is configured, soft configuration is done through the administration panel. To access the administration panel, log in as an administrator account and click the "config" link next to your username.CUSTOMIZATIONThis site employs Smarty (http://www.smarty.net/) to separate presentation from code. All templates are stored in the "templates" directory and may be modified directly. Here are some key features of "Lifebox": · The Feed · The homepage is a dynamic dashboard that highlights the most recent activity in your gallery - Featured Photo, Recent Albums, Recent Rolls, Recent Comments, Popular Photos, and Popular Videos · Integration with Lightroom and iPhoto · Lifebox reads EXIF tags embedded within the photo and within XMP sidecars. All your ratings, titles, descriptions, and tags from Lightroom will be brought automatically into Lifebox. · Rolls · Think of Rolls as a physical roll of film. The source of a photo is from one Roll, but can be referenced by multiple Albums. This allows you to preserve a photo session, while maintaining the freedom to curate themed Albums. · Albums · Albums are collections of hand selected photos. These photos are not stored in the Albums they are referenced from a Roll (the source) · Video Support · Lifebox is your one stop multimedia gallery. Play videos right inside the photo gallery. No need to download or use external video services. · User Accounts · Allow friends, family, or anyone to sign up for accounts. You control the privacy of your Lifebox · AJAX Edit-in-place · Add titles, descriptions, and tags to photos and videos with just one click of the mouse. Allow your users to have editing rights and they can populate your gallery with meta data for you :). · User Commenting System · Enable users to add comments on individual photos and videos. The Lifebox commenting system also allows you to see how many comments each photo has at a glance through a comment bubble indicator. · E-mail Notifications · Your friends get an e-mail when they're tagged or when a comment is made on a photo they're in · Comprehensive Photo Stats · Lifebox allows you to import photo stats from your camera and displays them with each photo/video.
