Absolute-13.0.9-Live CD/USB Description

A Slackware 13-current based Live Distro for Persistent CD/USB Absolute-13.0.9-Live CD/USB is a Slackware 13-current based Live Linux distribution for persistent CD/USB.HDD install: No, its for persistent cd/usb so no installer for hard drive USB install: manually install to usb or use Unetbootin Users: username: root password: 77 username: guest password: 55Developer comments First, this iso has nothing to do with Paul Sherman or Absolute Linux. Neither Paul Sherman or Absloute Linux is responsible for it and as with any Linux Livecd, use at own risk having said that, have fun! So, thinking it would be most cool to have your whole Absolute 13.0.9 setup on a 1GB+ fat32/etx2 or 3 USB. I found a way to make a Absolute Livecd using Linux Live Scripts The kernel, modules, and firmware are Slax 6.1.2 version 2.6.27.27 from Slax ISO. The build is from a Absolute 13.0.9 Hard drive install! Very cool it runs just almost like a Slax CD/USB 'cept it's absolute 13.0.9 packages, etc and kernel headers. Besides the kernel, heres where it deviates from reg Absolute. DisplayManager: Slim; removed GDM and XDM Desktop: default Icewm but with "clickless" menu, a gtkdialog reboot/shutdown/logout GUI couple wallpapers, also added sbopkg; and lxappearance & gtkdialog from SBOPKG's slackbuilds.org Apps removed include OpenOffice, Avidemux, kdelibs, k3b, most of the games and some other biggish apps, you can reinstall these or make them into slax modules. Also removed all the docs in /usr/doc and all the non-english man pages. This was so it would all fit on a 700MB CD-R It retains all the Dev and Libs for making stuff from source and is expandable using Slax modules. I also included a slaxsave.zip so you can run persistent from CD/USB. Please read all the docs regarding Slax as most applies here also http://www.slax.org/documentation.php Bascially, if booting from cd/usb its setup so it will look for slaxsave.dat(any size) on the root of a usb or partition you can edit the /boot/absolute.cfg and tell it to save changes whereever you want just give the path. first you gotta unzip the slaxsave.zip, then unzip the save size you want, 256, etc. It will unzip to a file named slaxsave.dat put that on usb, or whereever if you just put it on usb, not in any folder, along with the Absolute13 and boot folder, you dont have to edit absolute.cfg just use persistent boot option. The X configuration is just like absolute's default post-install-first-boot xconfig if unsure choose vesa or "no". I also placed a copy of the script for xconfig on the root desktop, the script is vidconfig from /usr/local/sbin by default it deletes the script after first run so if you are running persistent, dont delete it as you may need it to rerun if you are on a PC with strange card, etc. Its BEST to always use the vesa option if booting on various PC's in persistent mode! The iso also includes custom boot menu and Plop bootmanager which can boot cdroms, usb’s, usb-cdroms,etc even on PC’s without BIOS support for booting usb’s,etc. Included in .zip is absolute iso, md5sum.txt, a README, and slaxsave.zip. Best to use k3b and “burn” it at slowest speed (8k) or put it directly on usb manaully or use Unetbootin. Any questions, etc please post here http://absolutelinux.org/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=b366c04a6cafa083983b40cccb50860a&topic=637.msg1530#msg1530
